You are going to love Beau Jest, a comedy by James Sherman. It's a hoot. Lawrence Benjamin does a superb job directing this fine ensemble cast. Several of the actors have been on the Little Theatre stage before and Benjamin has stretched their acting abilities in wonderful ways.
To mollify her parents, Sarah tells then that she broke up with Chris Kringle, played by Nathan Knight, her advertising account executive boyfriend.
Her parents keep pressing her to introduce them to her beau, so she plans a dinner party and has to find a Dr. Steinberg. Over the heated protests of Chris, she employs an escort service to send her a Jewish date. Instead, they send Bob Schroeder, an aspiring actor (not Jewish), played by Dan Blazi, who agrees to perform the impersonation.
The acting is terrific, the story is funny and the ending is great. Don't miss this funny season opener. Not to forget the hard-working behind-the-scenes crew - Hal Linn is stage manager, Jerry Orzel is production coordinator, Bill Roehrborn is technical director and Ann Knadle is the set decorator. Camille Dickinson is in charge of props and Maxine Hoffman and Rose Dingas are handling costumes. Diane Christian handles lights and sound. |
