AUDITION DETAILS:
Adult actors are expected to come prepared with 16 bars of
their own music, either from the show or their own choice. Auditioning
with tracks is encouraged. There will be an accompanist to play.
Please bring your music. Please be dressed for simple movement
choreography (combination will be taught).
Children's auditions are for a chorus which appears onstage
throughout the show.
Performance details: Oct. 14, 15,16, 20, 21, 22, 23,
27, 28, 29 & 30 (11 performances)
Evening shows are at 8 pm and Sunday matinees are at 2 pm.
Synopsis: The Biblical story of Joseph and his coat of
many colors comes to life in this musical parable. Joseph, his
father's favorite son, is a boy blessed with prophetic dreams.
When he is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and taken
to Egypt, Joseph endures a series of adventures in which his
spirit and humanity are challenged.
Characters:
Narrator: Woman who tells the story through word and
song
Children's Chorus: 12-20 children, ages 8-15
Jacob: Father of twelve sons, 65+
Joseph: Favorite son, interprets dreams, tells the future
Pharaoh: Most powerful man in Egypt
Joseph's Brothers: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan,
Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun (will double in other
roles), ages 20-50
Joseph's Brother: Benjamin, age 15-20
Potiphar: Powerful and rich Egyptian
Mrs. Potiphar: Callous wife, Dancer
Baker & Butler: Pharaoh's servants 12-15 Women: Will
appear in many roles, wide age range
