BEGINNERS TAP DANCE CLASS

 

Learn the fundamentals of tap dance in a fun, welcoming environment! This beginner class for ages 11–17 covers essential steps, rhythms, time steps, shuffles, and tricks while building confidence, coordination, and musicality. Whether you’re brand new to tap or looking to strengthen your basics, you’ll have a great time learning and growing.

Ages 11-17

Saturdays from 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Instructor Dereck Fajardo

A musical theatre performer and tap dancer who loves sharing his passion for dance with others, Derek enjoys working with students of all experience levels and strive to create a welcoming, supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable learning, asking questions, and growing together. Derek’s personal goal is to help each dancer build a strong foundation in tap while having fun along the way.

 

BEGINNING DIRECTOR INTENSIVE

 

Lead Instructor: Harriet Winokur (with additional guest instructors representing various theater departments)

Become a Director at the Little Theatre of New Smyrna Beach!

Join our Beginning Director Intensive – a four session course that will teach you how to analyze scripts, develop a vision, and plan your production in a fun, hands-on community theater environment!

Saturdays from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm (noon)

October 24 - November 14

Location: Little Theatre 720 Building

Maximum number of students: 10
Registrants must be 18+ years of age to participate
Four class sessions, plus one audition attendance and one rehearsal attendance TBD

Cost:
$30 for non-Members
Little Theatre Members get discounted rate of $15

In addition, participants will have the opportunity to attend one audition night and one rehearsal night for the upcoming production of Sex Please, We’re Sixty.
Participants who complete all class sessions will also be eligible to be considered for a spot as one of the featured new directors for the 2027 NSB Play Festival.

After the success of the inaugural NSB Play Festival this year, The Little Theatre is expanding the new director program! The individuals from the Beginning Director Intensive who are chosen to direct in the NSB Play Festival will receive continued directing mentorship throughout the 2026/2027 Little Theatre season, with the ability to attend and observe rehearsals for multiple productions throughout the season.
